I love Paris. I never go more than 4 days at a time but its going to be incredibly difficult not to make this the most cheesy blog post you’ve read. I promise to reign myself in but lets have a chat on when to go, where to stay and what to see if you have a limited time.
When to go…
As referenced in the title, Paris IS always a good idea…no matter what time of year. Here’s some insights on different times of year. Summer is busy, you can wait for hours to go up the Eiffel tower along with the other main tourist attractions and museums Winter is freezing! Grab a coat and warm hat but enjoy the lighter crowds and no line at the Eiffel tower.
Spring and Autumn are my favorite times in Paris. There is plenty of sunshine, decent temperatures and beautiful flowers in the gardens.
Besides strolling in the parks by the Eiffel tower, its a wonderful time to fully enjoy the café culture. Grab a table, order the cheese plate and enjoy the wonderfulness of being in Paris. The table is yours for as long as you feel like sitting there. I admit I find it awkward to get the waiters attention and ask for the check. It’s standard practice so don’t anticipate the check coming to you without asking first.
Where to Stay…
The city of Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements or districts. The closer to the city center the more expensive hotels will be. Although the closer you are to the center will make commuting and seeing the sights easier.

My favorite hotel is the Le Marquis Eiffel. Located in the 15th arrondissement which is a residential area within walking distance of the Eiffel tower. It’s a boutique hotel in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and local amenities. Next door to the hotel is a bakery where I can’t resist buying a baguette or chocolate croissant to start the day.
What to See…
If it’s your first time in Paris, the Eiffel tower is a must. I never get tired of it especially all the different angles and views. My favorite is when it absolutely sparkles at night, it’s breathtaking. Also, I like to view Paris at night as all the iconic buildings are lit up to see.
If you’re in Paris over a weekend, find a local street market. During my winter visit my aunt and I wandered around the 15th arrondissement and found a neighborhood one. From flowers, fruits and vegetables along with jewelry and handbags it was a delight.
Walking tours with a local guide are my favorite way to visit a city. My favorite tour was a “hidden gems” tour that took me off the beaten tourist path to discover the Marais including visiting a café to sample French cheese and a visit to a local macaron shop.
I love the pace of Paris as leisurely strolling is encouraged. From the architecture and the food, I always leave Paris feeling refreshed and ready to dream bigger dreams. Until next time Paris!
